The School of Jalpaiguri is part of the Dalit Education Network by Operation Mercy Charitable Company. It has been financed by the Foundation since its founding in 2009. The school started in a rented building. A site for the school was bought in 2011. Several plots had to be joined which delayed construction start till 2013. Early 2014 the pupils could move into the new building. The cost of construction was financed equally by the Foundation and Operation Mobilization Switzerland.
Due to the delay, the school was fully booked right from the start. The foundation then co-financed the construction of the upper floor. The foundation also supported important components as the construction of a wall around the property and a large gate.
The strategy of having 50 new enrollments every year couldn’t be realized because many students of the upper classes dropped out. This is due to the lack of registration and recognition by the Indian state. On fulfilling the required points the registration is imminent.
